Sexy, Moody "Friday the 13th" Wedding at Salvage One
We just love it when couples really lean into making their wedding aesthetic unique and unforgettable - especially when it’s not your “typical” wedding theme. Amanda and Nick had a sexy wedding on Friday the 13th last October at Salvage One. Wednesday Addams was their fictional muse for their dark and moody soiree. Their colors were rich and a little goth-feeling: burgundy, plum, red, dark pink, and eucalyptus green. If you’re into a sexy, dark aesthetic, you’re not going to want to miss these wedding photos by Lilly Photography.
The bride and groom had their first look and subsequent photos at the Virgin Hotel downtown Chicago. Amanda’s look was elegant with a streak of edgy - her hair had a cool green highlight and she wore dark, dark red lipstick. Her bridesmaids wore long green dresses of various styles. The colors of the flowers looked awesome against the green.
The bride’s bouquet was comprised of red amaranthus, black star calla lilies, burgundy dahlias, dark purple ranunculus, dark pink protea, agonis and dyed eucalyptus. We made the bridesmaids’ bouquets with similar flowers, only a bit smaller.
Over at Salvage One, we dressed up the ceremony space with hella moody florals. For the ceremony backdrop, we created an asymmetrical, deconstructed wedding arch that was dripping in dark red and deep purples. Flowers we used were similar to the bouquets, but with even more red amaranthus, anthurium, silver dollar eucalyptus, ruby chocolate hydrangea, and more. We also lined the ceremony aisles with tall candles for a little bit of mood lighting.
We dressed up the photo guestbook table with some pops of red and burgundy florals. Their wedding emblem with the crowned skull is so badass!
Either wedding guests were encouraged to wear all black, or everyone had the same idea! Very Addams family-esque ;-)
They had their ceremony and sealed the deal. Woot woot for Mr. and Mrs. Iwaniuk!
Upon walking into the ceremony space, guests were greeted with this bold, moody statement piece. Held in a tall gold vase, this floral arrangement was created with a large monstera leaf painted black, dripping red amaranthus, anthurium, pink floyd roses, purple majesty millet, and other elements. We also placed some tall, black taper candles and short votives around the piece. She was a stunna (if we do say so ourselves).
The dinner area brought even more moody details to life. The long, wooden dinner tables were decked out with a combination of tall black taper candles, small gold votives, and bud vases. The head table (below) was similar, but included two medium centerpieces as well.
For their sweetheart table (above right), we repurposed their ceremony backdrop and placed it behind the table. We love their neon sign they placed on the front of it - insinuating the phrase “‘til death do you part”.
For their unique, black wedding cake by ECGB Cake Studio, we dressed it up in some more moody florals. Have you ever seen a black wedding cake?! So cool!
You might not believe this, but they had a tattoo station at their wedding! Guests were able to choose from a sheet of pre-designed mini tattoos. Would you ever get tatted at a wedding?!
They also had burlesque dancers perform! Ooh lala.
Congratulations again, Amanda and Nick! We loved being part of your sexy, unique, moody Friday the 13th wedding!
