Chic & Elegant Spring Wedding at Theater on the Lake

We love that we get to work with so many couples with different styles, vibes, and visions. A lot of our weddings are very colorful but this one was monochromatic and it had just as much personality! Jess and Dave got married last May on a moody spring day in Chicago, at a place called Theater on the Lake. This cool, historic building has stunning views of Lake Michigan and the skyline.

When Jess, Dave, and their planner Audrey from Paris Events met with us, they had a specific vision in mind. They were going for simple, chic, and modern - and all white roses and baby’s breath. The two flowers combined felt almost surreal, kind of like little poufs of clouds. But most of all, they created a super elegant and chic look. Check out more photos of their big day by Cassie Anna Photography, and read more about their wedding below!

Jess’s bridal bouquet consisted of a reflexed (when florists manually turn out the outer petals) white roses surrounded by babies breath, and the stems wrapped in ivory ribbon. Her look was so glam with her one-shoulder wedding dress, pearl earrings, and low bun.

We love this unique bridesmaid palette! Jess’s ladies wore long dresses of various styles in bright, bold colors: pink, green, orange, purple, blue, and red. We created petite bouquets made of baby’s breath for them to hold.

Their ceremony was held outside, right on the shores of Lake Michigan. It was an overcast day, which made the color of the water look even prettier. (Overcast wedding days are also the best because photos are better in diffused light!).

We created a round ceremony backdrop, with asymmetrical flowers on either side. We also lined the ceremony aisle with little clusters of flowers (these were their dinner table centerpieces! shhh!). The vibe felt super dreamy - don’t you think?

They exchanged vows in front of their loved ones, and sealed the deal! Yay for the new Mr. and Mrs. Bjerke!!!

Inside the venue, we prepped the space for the reception and brought in all the aisle decor and placed them on the dinner tables (yay for repurposing!). It was a modern, minimalist’s dream! In addition to flowers on the tables, we added tall white taper candles and sleek textured votives.

Their table numbers were simple and modern as well, with a playful addition of folded paper cranes. We loved their elegant white napkins outlined in black.

For their welcome/gift table, we created a trio of monochromatic flowers in separate vases- each type of flower had sentimental value to the couple.

Their elegant, three tiered wedding cake was made by Vanille Patisserie. We topped it off with some fresh blooms to match the rest of their decor.

We brought their ceremony backdrop into the reception space, and placed it behind the head table. Repurposing the ceremony backdrop into the reception decor is always the way to go!

Congratulations again, Jess and Dave! We wish you a lifetime of laughter and love.
