Ode to the Sunflower

It's late September now; a time when Summer comes to an end and us midwesterners start preparing for the cold.

However, I (Kristen- Jori's new admin) recently took a trip to Colorado and was quickly reminded that Summer is still alive and well.  While walking through the city landscape, bright yellow faces caught my eye.  It was a sunflower plant growing from gravel...literally (see picture below).  Even this flowering beauty was grasping for the warmth of summer sunshine rays.  This was a small reminder that the season is still going strong even after festivals have slowed, school has started and Labor Day has passed- Summer still lives.

So don't wish it away friends- embrace the last days with smiling faces like that of our good friend the Helianthus (the Sun Flower).
